Part 1: Introduction to DBT Group Skills
Program Description
This full-day highly interactive and experiential workshop is designed to introduce DBT group skills and specifically the four modules in DBT group skills training. The workshop is designed for individuals new to DBT group skills or for those who have familiarity with DBT skills but are interested in learning new and creative methods to teach DBT skills via experential exercises and the use of multimedia. At this workshop participants will learn the basic DBT skills used in group work, including but not limited to DEARMAN GIVE FAST, opposite action, and mindfulness. In addition, participants will learn how to structure a DBT group and orient clients to a skills group . Upon completion of the program participants will earn 6 CEUs.

Workshop Objectives Upon completion of the workshop participants will be familiar with and be able to: 1) Teach the DEARMAN Skill 2) Understand Emotional Identification and Labeling in DBT 3) Teach the Opposite Action Skill 4) Teach the skill of IMPROVE the Moment 5) Teach the skill of Pros and Cons 6) Teach the "What" Skills of Mindfulness, including observe, describe, and participate 7) Teach the "How" Skills of Mindfulness, including nonjudgentally, one-mindfully, and effectively 8) Teach the skill "Wise Mind" 9) Teach the skill of Radical Acceptance 10) Use new and creative methods to teach DBT group skills 11) Structure and orient clients to a DBT skills group |
